Crappie-Tunnel-Syndrome:D Hey Cane, I wish I could get it more often
I was fishing (catching) this past weekend. I was bottom bumping with a KY rig with 1/2 ounce bottom weight.
Problem is my wrist is so sore I can't use my hand. First time this ever happened.
Reckon I need a bowling ball wrist support device?
I loves this type fishing. Catches fish when nothing else works.

Could be tendinitis and I have had it pretty bad several times and it was in my elbow and was bad enough I couldn't puck up my coffee cup. I took the shots for it and it was over pretty fast with the cortisone shots.
I also have had the fore mentioned Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and had surgery on my right wrist. So far I have not had to do the other wrist even though I have it there as well, just not as bad.
just make yourself a Bottom Bumping Bot

Where does it hurt? Top or under the wrist? Mine gets inflamed on the top and when I bend the wrist back and forth it "pops". It only does it if I use it a lot. If it is like what I have, just use the elbow more and try to keep the wrist straight.

Will fish for food!
I have a tendon or ligament in my right elbow that is giving me grief ever since last fall fishing season. Its related to my bicep somehow. Hurts like crazy when I use my elbow in the traditional one arm curl in weight lifting so I can hardly lift anything that way. It feels slightly better when I have been active with that arm, and I think its slowly getting better. I tend to over do lifting things sometimes, but I don't remember doing anything that would cause this except maybe too much fishing. Hauling in all those monster walleyes is really stressful on the pole arm. :D I don't like taking pills, and its never been so bad I needed to, but if it was I'd take an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen before the activity that causes the pain. Have you tired that Cane? In my case I'm very resistant to drugs and would have to tale 600-800 mgs to have pain relief, but I'm really unusual with drugs plus I have a very high tolerance for pain. A normal dose would prolly do the trick. I think its 400 mgs or 2 caps.
I have a nephew that had to have both hands reconstructed because of repetitive stress injuries. If it hurts that bad I'd have a good joint doc look at it. I'd look for a sports medicine clinic where they handle athletes. In my experience they tend to have the best joint docs. Too bad your not closer to here. My mom has an excellent one in Erie PA. I'm not one to recommend docs, but he has done an excellent job controlling my moms joint problems. If I remember right your close to Nashville. I'm sure with the sports teams there they have some good joint specialists there. Knoxville as well, maybe UT Knoxville grad school of medicine, Vanderbilt Sports Medicine, or www.nashvillesportsmedicine.com. Just a thought.
Good things come to those who bait.
That's why I started using rod holders. I've had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands and just can't hold a rod all day like I used to. If I try, it hurts all the way up past my elbows. With all your talents Tom, you could just build an "electronic bottom bumping" rig! :D

Yes, I fish like a girl. If you tried a little harder, you could too!!
Can someone explain "exactly" what bottom bumping is and how it is performed? this is the first i have ever heard of it.
brushpiles and logs, one rod, one bobber, it's jig poppin time:D
Tom take a band-aid. And place it across the palm of your hand at night. Touch your thumb to your little finger. Then place the tape or band-aid across the thumb across the palm.
It works. Mine does that and that is how I make the pain go away..
