Great pics. I used to catch a lot of those in the clover field my Grandpa had. I think if I can remember back that far those are Tiger Swallowtail butterflies. We used to get those, Swallowtails (Blackish/purple) and my favorite were the Monarchs.
I was mowing the lawn the other day, stopped, ran inside to get the camera to try and catch a few pictures of this butterfly. I think I got 3 great shots out of 3 taken.

If you look close you can see it's feeding tube thing trying to get to the lilac.
And here he/she is all spread out.
