Default Rod lengths for spider rigging

I have a single 4 holder "T" bar (Hi-Tek) at the front of my 16' bass boat.
I WAS planning to use two 12' rods in the center and two 10' rods on either side BUT I think I'll use Cabela's "Whuppin Stick" crappie rods (because they're sturdy and cheap)... They come in 12' and 9' lengths. Didn't want THAT much difference in rod length so I'm considering using four 12' rods.

Does anyone spider rig with rods that are all the same length? With only 4 rods, will they tangle more easily? How much more?

    Thanks

I have four at 12' and two at 10', though I put the two 10's and 2 12's up front with the other two 12's off either side I don't see any problem with having four 12's together. In this pic, (from a spider rigging article) they all look the same length to me.

I use 13' poles for slow trolling and 16' poles for fast trolling. I use all one length---seems to work fine and keeps life simpler.

I use 6 to 8 BnM Pro Staff Trolling Rods in the 14ft version. You will need that extra length when fishing in 2-6 ft. of water not to spook the fish. Bar none nothing that I have picked up in my hands compares to the Pro Staff. Slab crappie are no problem with this rod. The Graphite Jig Pole and Capps and Colemans are too thin for the job in my opinion when landing big fish or getting hung up. You get sensitivity and strength with the Pro Staff trolling rod. Like them so much I bought a whole case. BnM will give you a discount if you buy a whole case of the same length rod.

If you buy your rods thru Grizzlyjig they give discounts on 4 or more rods.
