Default First time for success on Stockton

Due to the power lines being down on the Little Sac we decided to head over to the Big Sac for the day (we usually fish on the SE side of the powerlines) We decided to go down Sons Creek and we found a nice little cove that produced some good results...

Remember when I say good results, I mean by MY standards, not yours. lol

You should be proud of a limit by anybody's standards. Nice fish. Its pays off to try something different than you are use to.

Those fish look healthy but it does seem strange to see the males with their spawning colors and the females with eggs in them at the end of may...what a strange year...good fishin.

Hey, bugman, How in the world do you tell if they are male or female? Because of their (female) fat bellies?

Fat bellies and lighter colors on the females and the males are darker when they're spawning.

    Good fish MOmilkman!

A friend and I fished Stockton for the first time in early May. We fished for walleye, (fishing cranks with lead core line, jigs/minnows and bait walkers with spinners/minnows, and fishing near or on the bottom in 25 to 35 feet of water) but caught both walleyes and crappie. The crappie were really nice, mostly beween 11 and 12 inches. Ended up with about 15 crappies and about 10 walleyes (8 keepers) in two days' fishing.

We really liked the lake, nice to fish a lake without big boats and big waves!
the trick to catch that finnicky speck....
gently set the hook just before the peck

did you have to change size of line because of water clarity? What baits work best and how deep? Are there any deadfalls?

How are you opening the picture on milkman's post? There's lots of times that people are discussing a picture, and I can't see it.
