    Default Crappie from the past

My sister was browsing some old pics last week and came across this one of my mom. She is quite a crappie angler and we always fished the crappiethons as the only mother-son team. Everyone loved her and she became a mini celebrity at the tournies, not just because of her age and that she was a woman, but she could really haul em in and put a lot of men to shame. That year we placed 7th and she won the big fish pot. It was a horrendous fishing day with high winds and waves on the whole lake and there was over 100 teams. It was the last fish we caught before we quit and came to the weigh-in. I was always very proud of her and she was of herself for catching the biggest fish of the tourny with over 200 men in it. :D I think it was 16-17 yrs ago.

It was a smallish fish compared to some years when the big fish was always over 2lb, but it was a great fish for the conditions that year. I believe it was 1.9lb and was a good representative of a typical Chautauqua fish back then. Man I miss those days. All we have are dinks now.

She is 77 now and isn't real steady in a small boat, so she doesn't go out on the lake much. We need to get a pontoon so she can go out more, but when she gets a pole in the water she still hauls em in. My brother-in-law has a pontoon and I have asked if we could use it so she can fish, but hes a selfish jerk and just leaves it in his yard all year. I offered to put it in the water for him and fix it up, but he just blew it off. GRR I'll pick up my own used pontoon this year sometime so she can fish more.
