    Default Spider Rigging? Help Please!

Never done this before, I have several questions

What length rods do you suggest?
    What degree rod holders?
    Live bait vs Jigs?
How do you fix your rigging? One or two baits, where is your weight?
What size weight do you use?
What is the best way to locate ledges?
    How well do this work?

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks,

    Brad

    1. 12'-16' rods are the norm...i use 14'
    2. adjustable rod holders are best...Perrotti built or tite loc
    3. either can be used or in combination...mostly i use minnows/shiners
    4. 3/8-3/4 is mostly what i use the heavier weights if they want the bait fast the lighter weight if the lake is rough or they want a slow bait
    5. a map will get you close a good fishfinder up front will put you on it
It's a great way to cover water and find scattered/suspended fish it's also a great way to fish brushpiles if you fish around and over them just dont try to get down in the brush or you will have a mess with 6 or 8 rods hung.

I like 12, 14 and 16 foot poles. I usually use Grizzly rigs from Grizzly Jig Co. I like pink, orange or chartruce jigs tipped with minnows. www.grizzlyjig.com. I build my own rod holders so they are adjustable. I fan the poles across the front of the boat and cover 30+ feet of water the use the trollling motor just enough to keep the boat where you want it. It helps to locate fish with your electronics first then go back and fish those areas. It work so well that some lake are instituting pole limits if that says anything.

I personally like 3/4 to 2oz weight. I have ran rods side by side with different weights and catch ratio wise was highest on the heavier rod. Also, I almost never lose a rig, if it gets hung just shake it loose and keep fishing. I use both jigs and minnows. I like a lot of choices for the fish. I use two hooks per line with the weight at the bottom up about a foot I tie a 6" loop and add a jig or a lite wire hook, up 12" to 18" more same thing. It works and for that reason a lot of people don't like it. But to each his own! Just my 2cents

I use 6lb on just about everything, even when fishing for whites and hybrids. only exception is on my catfish rods. Oh yeah and my snagging rods.

    Default Spider rigging

Is this Missouri?? Am new to the site and fairly new to crappie, but have only read about spider rigging in the South. How many lines per man can you have in the water in Missouri?

    Thanks

Definetely has peaked my interest. As a relatively new boat fisherman, this sounds like a interesting way to troll. I have a ProCrappie 175 is there a way to rig something up without drilling any holes in the boat?
