tree top fishing

I fish on the Coosa below Weiss dam and I hear of other fishermen tearing them up on the tree tops. Out of the hundreds of trees, how do you pick the ones the fish are holding on? Thanks

I'm definately no expert, but I'd probably look for tops that are in or near the depth I'd expect the Crappie to be. Post spawn I'd be fishing tops that are in deeper water or at least closer to it. I've had good luck fishing tops that are located on bluff walls. Start as far away from the top as you can and then work your way in.
