Default Help!! Can this Be fixed!

Accidentally broke off the bottom 1/3 of my skeg while backing up onto some pavement. The skeg is bent a little to the left but I have all the pieces.
Can this be straightened back up and the broken piece welded back on?
Will it hurt to run it this way for a few weekends until I can get it welded?

Yes it can be welded back on...or you can buy a replacement skeg for it. they make a bolt on (or held on with screws) replacement
find someone that repairs props, I believe they can repair or u can put on replacement part. U can run it like that but it hinders the steering I believe..

    This one works great http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...skeg&noImage=0

A new one can be welded on a little cheaper but you have to take the lower unit off.

    Slab,
Call me or PM me or stop by the store. I can have it put it back together for you if you bring it to town. My friends can do anything with a boat and motor you want. They just became a Minn Kota dealer as well.

I had a busted skeg (115 Johnson), cleaned it all up and used JB Weld on it, smoothed it out real mice and noone could even tell it had been busted.:D I ran it that way for 4-5 years. Sold the boat to oldest son this year and within 2 weeks he had dropped the motor down pulling boat out of the lake and snapped it off, it did not break on the old JB Weld but lower down on the skeg , guess he will learn in time.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I'm busy with work right now but I'll see what I can do. I need to stop fishing for a while and do some much needed boat and trailer repairs!
Thanks Slipcork, I'll sure give you a call if I decide pull it your way.

Ive seen these used on a TV show awhile back, Babe Winkleman I think. They run about 70$ and are a do it your self thing with no drilling reguired as far as I know.
