Question Jig makers....what is the porous material in fluid beds???

What is the porous material in the bottom of the fluid bed cups??? I have never seen anything like it. I'd like to make some of my own, but I have no idea what that material is.

I must really be missing the point of your question. Are you talking about a waterbed mattress?

I think he's talking about a fluid bed for painting baits.

The "pourous" material in a fluid bed would be the powder paint I believe.

Am I right? What did I win? :D

I quess I should have addressed it to the jig makers. The fluid beds are air flow devices that keep powder paint suspended for a lighter, more even coat. There is a material in the bottom of the cups that is porous and looks like plastic. It allows the air to pass through it's very tiny holes, therefore keeping the powder paint suspended. Now I need to know what the material is!

You can make your own and use coffee filters or brown paper sacks for the membrane. you can also get on lurecrafts website and order the actual membrane.

I can't remember the actual name but it's some kind of membrane and they buy it in sheets so it is doubtful we can get it.

The good ones use Sintra (R) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed-cell_PVC_foamboard
We use it by the ton in the sign biz. Cuts and works like wood.

I have been told that it is "porous polyethylene". I contacted a commercial jig maker and they have huge fluid beds that dip 1000 jigs at a time and cost $100s of dollars..........but they didn't know where to get it. The search leads on..........

    Thanks for the replies!!!!
