Default Mr. Crappie - WM rods?

I stopped to eyeball the Wally Marshall rods @ BPS this past weekend. Nice rods, but I have a question. Why so many line guides? This caught my attention as soon as I had a 12' in my hand. I'm unsure as to the purpose of the extra amount as compared to any other 12' rod. I wish I could narrow down to the exact model I had in my hands, but the memory stick is pretty full.

The more the better. The line guides are there to keep the line up off the rod to reduce drag. The cheaper the rod the fewer the guides it will have.

i think another reason for a lot of guides is the more guides on a rod the more the stress on rod is spread out. this would be important on the longer rods that have thinner tips .
