Default If you only have one fish finder?

If you only had one finder where you want it? On the transom or the trolling motor.

Picked up a tip on anouther thread about mounting transom mount transducer on the trolling motor and thinking about changeing mine. I only have one and dont forsee me getting anouther anytime soon. For those of you that have 2(front and back), which location would be the most productive?

What do you mean if ,I only had one? I use mine on the trolling motor cause it's right where I'm fishing on the bow.

Kinda what I thought. Just might have been an advantage to see structure, bottom depth ect while rolling into a new spot with gas power. If it doesnt look good then keep going.

For years I was just a pleasure boater and only really needed to know depth. Beside the fact that the transducer was just always on the back of any boat I owned.

mine has always been on the trolling motor. when I got the new one I moved the old one back to the transom but since doing that I very rarely turn it on. got and old flicker depth finder on the boat for running across the water. good luck and good fishing.

i think there is a good argument for both. i dont have a trolling motor, so my opinion may not be the best. but, i think the ff is pretty valuable on the dash. especially if you have marked spots, i wouldnt want to find them with the trolling motor. jmo

I'm probably not the best to ask, but if I only had one(which I did for several years), I would mount it on the console with the transducer on the transom and put the finder on a swivel bracket where you can see it from both. I currently have three!

I only use the transom mount to watch depth running to protect lower unit in shallow water. The trolling motor mount is the fish finder. I keep both and GPS on swivel mount to see either running or fishing off bow. Couldn't live without all 3. Can catch a decent b/w cheapo at bass pro for about $100 or so. Picked up a color unit hummingbird for $200 this spring. Gave old one to a buddy starting out or i'd make u a deal on it.
