Classic Results
well, the 2007 Classic is in the books. Cedar creek has a healthy population of crappie, but the big ones are just really hard to come by. Everyone in the tournament brought 7 fish to the scales, but it sure was tight.
A special thanks to the BnM company. THeir sponsorship of our club in one of the coolest things we have going for us. Each winner of a tournament recieves a BnM rod of their choice. The winner of the CLASSIC recieves 8 BnM rods and reels of their choice.
1st place 6.15 Berry and Hester
Finishing in first place was Bevein Berry from Tuscumbia, AL and Scott Hester from Muscle Shoals, Al. This team was strong last year but was unable to fish together the entire year until now. This team is strong and they proved their ability to catch good quality crappie. They fished around 18 feet of water using handtied hairjigs. Bevin and Scott like to side troll and fished about 12 feet deep. I hope you have yoru BnM rods picked out, because each of you will recieve 4 rods of your choice, outfitted with a BnM spinning reel. Good job fellas!
2nd place 5.90 Whitehead and Mitchell
Finishing in second place was the team of Brad WHitehead and Mark Mitchell from Muscle Shoals, AL. This team spent most of their day vertical jigging in the timbre. They used a 1/4 ounce weigted jig with Yum Beavertails tiped with minnows. This team also had lunker with a nice 1.24 cedar creek crappie.
3rd place 5.85 McCarley and McCarley
In 3rd place was the Madison, Al team of Jimmy and David McCarley. This team has finished strong in every tournament since joining the club. I believe this team tighlined most of the day, but not for sure. They were in a solid second place until the last team came into the scales.
4th place 5.64 Waters and Aker
in 4th was the team of David Waters and Gerald Aker from Tuscumbia, Al. This team started fishign the timbre with little results, then moved out and tightlined minnows in 12 feet of water, fishing about 10 feet deep. The fish tended to want a little speed. Most peoples bite turned off around 11:30, and their fish turned on, so the fish might be moving a little shollow during the middle of the day.
5th place 5.44 Dodd and Ledbetter
Keith Dodd and Don Ledbetter from Madison, Alcame in with 5.44 pounds. THis team long lined jigs in 15 feet of water and less all day. They caught over 30 fish using their long line techniques. Like always, their fish were the healthiest at the scales. THis team really knows how to take care of their fish and keep them healthy.
6th place. 5.37 Jeff and Allison WHite
This Father Daughter team from Booneville, Ms came to the scales with 5.37 pounds of fish caught troling crankbaits. Jeff trolled bandit cranks in multiple colors. He also used planner boards as well.
7th place 4.54 Davis and Barksdale
The team of Rex Davis from Anderson, TN, and Keith Barksdale from Huntsville, Al brought 4.54 pounds of crappie to the sclaes. This team caught lots of fish all day. They pushed black and chartruse jigs most of the day and tightlined some as well.
Congrats to all the teams present and thanks for a great year.
