    Default TM Pull Rope

The rope used to lower and raise my MG TM broke today while I was pulling up the motor (yes I fell in the lake). What type of rope should I use to repair?

    Were you alone?
    Were you wearing your PFD??
How did you manage to get back aboard your boat??
I would just get the same type of rope that was on your TM.

I was fishing alone and I always wear a PFD, climbed up the motor on the stern.

    Default PFD's

I just had to make my comment on the PFD's as there was a thread several weeks ago and several members were saying that they only wore their PFD's when the main motor was running.
It doesn't take but one miss step to end up in the drink, as your message states.
When you are in the drink, the best way of getting back into the boat is not one of your main thoughts. I would guess that most would try to get back in by trying to go over the side of the boat instead of moving to the back of the boat and using the motor as a ladder.

I had a 25 ft retractable dog leash that quit working for me and used the length needed to replace the broken pull rope on my Minkota Maxum. Kept the remaining length of rope in the boat to replace when the rope breaks again. The rope diamater was a hair smaller than I wanted but it has worked fine.

Good thing you wasn't on the lake I fished today.

55 Degree water is very chilly.

if a rope brake on a motor guide its no problem just take the motor off and load up a minn kota breakaway mount is a different story if the rope break there no way to raise the motor what i did tie a small rope to the trip pin for a spare

    Default Pull Rope

Top grade lawnmower pull rope is the trick....Put one on my MG about 3 weeks ago....Just make sure your length is right. Its easy to make it to short.
