    Default Save Your Boat

Just a little cheap insurance buy a small safety chain to go from the trailer to the hook eye on the front of your boat . I have seen to many winch straps and cables break going down the road and the wind will catch the bow of the boat and lift it off the trailer

Mine too came with a safety chain. I have helped friends add them to theirs as a safety measure and helped one after $1200 dollars of boat repairs due to just what you mentioned. Boats on pavement is not a good thing!!

I have had a boat come off my truck but had the safety chains hooked up so the only damage was a couple of bumps on my bumper where I slowed the boat down. Also, I brought a homemade trailer to the State Police to get the trailer stampped and didn't have the safety chains and they would not stamp it without them.

Good idea Sticko! I've noticed that my winch strap is pretty old and needs replaced. I'll put something on there just in case it breaks before I can get a new strap.
