Default VA pounder slab and other fishies

    April 28th-29th, 2007

I took a road trip down to VA to visit and fish with my father. We were able to get 2 days of fishing in on Smith Mountain Lake. We went mostly for stripers but when it comes to fishing, ya go out there and fish for anything that will bite, HEHE!
1st night we fished from sundown to sunrise and caught a few of these little stripers.

And then my little X-rap got slammmed and I ended up with this nice 8 pound channel cat.

2nd day we fished alittle bit of day night and fished a few hours before sundown to sunrise again and had much better luck the 2nd night of fishing.
Got a few of these little bass on minnows, pitching them around docks and brushpiles looking for crappie.

When my father got hammered by this 1.4 pound crappie.

Later on that night we came back to the house to get a snack and low and behold, my buddy showed up with this nice stringer of 2 stripers, 1 wallleye, and 1 catfish.

So after a little snack and getting these fish in the freeze, we headed back out and I ended up getting the monster of the trip.

a beauty of a 14.14 pound striper on the digital, looks like one heck of a hog on the ground, hehe.

All in all it was a great trip and we all ended up coming home with a nice pile of fish. Till next time, tight lines and Fish On!

thanks guys, It was a great weekend fishing trip for sure.
Drive 600 miles oneway, catch some nice fish and come home another 600 miles back with plenty of fish for over a dozen meals. :D

    nope, I'm the food eater.
2 bags of fish went with Chainsaw, 2 bags of fish for me and 1 bag of fish for Matt. Each bag had enough for 2 people's meals. The fish wasn't froozen by the time we got home so I split on bag into 2 for my son and I for 2 meals, and the other bag, the cheif here at work, hooks me up with his cook skills. :D

I don't normally keep fish and the fish I do normally doesn't make it to the freezer. This fish will be in the freeze less an a month.

Well, if I were you, and you like night fishing, head down there in 2 weeks during the dark moon.
But, to help ya out, we were using 1/16 oz jigheads and roadrunners with small to medium minnow and pitching them right up next to dock and the banks.
    Good luck and tight lines.
