Default How to tell Male from Female Crappie?

Never mind. Should have checked the "search" first.

No one really had a good answer tho.

What I have heard about bass (& I think the same is for crappie) is that you look at the anus, and if there is an hourglass look, it's a female, & if there is a circle look, it's a male. I had someone tell me that about a month ago. I think it to be true.

except for during the spawn period .... there's no discernable difference that can be found by the visual inspection of the exterior of the fish. And, I'm not even sure if the oval vs round anal shape theory is a valid one, for Crappie.
I don't remember if it was addressed, in the previous discussions, but ... to what end is this information necessary ?? Is it for the purpose of keeping only the males, and releasing the females ?? If so, and that were a viable method of population control/maintenance or other protective function .... and it was a positive/productive method .... don't you think the DNR/F&G departments would have implemented such measures, already

    ...... cp

You guys are too funny but I`ve found the males eat blue nibbles and the females eat pink ones.

What is really crazy is when they have an identity crisis. I think that means they are confused about what to do when the water gets just right!

The females can all be removed from the cooler by grasping them like a 6 pk.
