I like the Garmin 160-180 series, cheaop price and work great for your average fishing conditions. Can add GPS to the newer model I believe.

You cannot go wrong with the Lowrance x96...It will only run you $199, someplaces cheaper online. I have one and it does me very well. I wish it was color, but other than that it is the best unit you can get in that price range.

This might sound unbeliveable, but I work at a wal-Mart part time and they clearenced an Eagle a while back. It was one that sells for about $95. The sporting manager told me it was marked down to $20. When he scaned it to show me it came up $15. It now has a home on the back of my boat where I can see it from the seat back there.

THE EAGLE 480 is the same depth finder as the Lowrance 96 made by the same folks and a little cheaper.

Eagle Cuda 250. I have one that I bought at Academy for $214. It is a GPS/fishfinder combo. I love mine and will probably be buying a second one. Haven't had any problems with mine yet.

Go GARMIN -- you won't be dissappointed. I've had five of em, and a handheld GPS. Customer service (tech support) is second to none with my experiences.
    2nd choice would be Lowrance

I got one of these. Lots of detail. You wont be sorry on this one. Same warranty as the Lowrances. @ $200.

Hummingbird 565, has the best resolution in the price range. $199.00, I think it is on sale at BPS right now for $179.00, I've had mine since around Christmas and like it very much. Another nice feature is the transducer trade in, I bought mine for the font, and sent in the transom mount xducer and for $5.00 they sent me the trolling motor mount one.
