That is a good idea. Thanks for the info.
I have been using Silica Gel packs that come in new products such as shoes, etc. for over 25 years. You have all seen them and thrown them away I'm sure.
They are self contained and small which allows them to fit nicely in just about every nook and cranny in a tackle box or plano storage box.
Silica's job is to remove moisture which is what causes rust thus creating a perfect solution to the problem. The next time you get a pack of silica don't throw it in the trash, throw it in with your hooks and jig heads!!! The more the better. Good Lip Rippn'

Im sure silica cannot handle absorbing heavy moisture. I always had better luck keeping any wet tackle out of the box.

OK I'm lying.....lmao.... geez. Like I put wet tackle away....lol. By the way I work as a Supervisor in a Chemical Plant......... hmmmmmmm. Diafil is another form of Silica . It is used to keep HEAVY contents of moisture out of Agrotain, Super U, UFLEXX and UMAXX. Five lbs. of silica will treat a 98 ton railcar full of urea or granular.

thanks for the tip - up til now all they were to me was something to get rid of fast... before the kids tried to eat 'em!
as I have access to silica packets/cylinders, from work. I keep several in my hook/sinker box, tackle boxes with jigheads, and storage boxes where I keep my "excess/backup" supplies.
And, yes ..... rule #1 is --- don't put "wet" items back into the box .. allow them to dry out, first.
So far, so good .........

I have a rod holder that has a riser and I put some noodle over that and when I change jigs I just hook the wet jig into the noodle to dry. It will hold a lot of jigs and it's also a handy place to keep rigs with hooks or jigs tied and ready to use.
I got the idea from Bee Ready Rod Holder's web site...
