The guy working at Cabelas marine department told me that the Fishing Hot Spots is better as far as fishing goes and that Navionics is better as far as navigation. I don't know for sure though. I had heard that same thing from someone else as well. I bought Hot Spots based on his advice and what he was able to show me in the store.
If you have somewhere close you may want to go see them for yourself.

Which one of those can you save waypoints on

I can save waypoints on mine using Hotspots. I would also assume that you can save waypoints using any of them. I think waypoints are saved using your fishfinder regardless of what map software you have loaded.

I didnt like any of them but I mostly fish smaller lakes. Just make sure the lakes you fish most are on the maps or you may be wasting your money. I bought the lowrance mapcreate software with the card reader/writer and the majority of the lakes I fish are still shown as creeks.

check out http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Map...Maps/index.asp alot of free maps on here but some states have little or no coverage.
