    Default Turtles Eating Minnows

Do any of you minnow fishermen ever have problems with an old turtle bugging you to death by eating your minnows? And is it true that turtles will run off the crappie from a spot? Thanks.

I have had turtles eat the fish on my stringer before. I hate turtles.

Yep! Been there dun that. Danged ole turtles are bait stealin' varmints.

I don't know about skeerin' the crappie away. Never could keep a danged turtle off my minner long enough to find out.

I always moved and found a more turtleless hole to fish in.

Acually I consider turtles the buzzards of under water. I see them all of the time in my favorite fishing hole. I have never been botherd by them and have never thought once they might be running my fish off. I don't think they would ever consider chasing anything to eat it.

Biggest problem I have with turtles is when I get to shore late and decide to hang the stringer from the dock overnight and clean the fish in the morning - they clean the stringer for me. I end up with nothing more on the stringer than a bunch of fish heads!!!!

Get me to remembering and hankering to make a batch of my grandma's turtle soup!!!!

Thanks everyone! This one turtle kept going from one minnow to another while hubby and I were fishing last weekend on Percy Priest Lake. Dumb thing even tried to eat our bobbers! We finally moved on to a turtle-less hole, too, even though we caught a good crappie where we left the turtle. Turtles sometimes bother me while fishing Kentucky Lake, too.

I came up with some cleanly bitten minnows yesterday. I could make out the end of the turtles snout on one
