    Default Spawnin' Action Today!

We fished today by wading and fishing shallow, ( less than 3 feet deep water ). We also fished some 8 to 10 feet brushpiles in some spawning coves and picked up a few nice females. The good action was definately around the banks.
Water temp was 69 degrees and all the fish we caught in the brush were males. Their tails showed no signs yet of fanning the beds and what few females we caught out on the brushpiles still had firm eggs.

Here's Abbie on the way down to the lake!

Here's a nice one caught off a shallow brushpile.

This is our youngest son Jeff with a nice stringer of males caught fishing 1 foot of water!

Would you mind telling me what size jig heads you use and how you fish the jigs in shallow brush (5 ft water or less)? Do you use a slip cork? Thanks!

No problem CrappieLovinGirl, We found out this morning that we like the Chartreuse 1/8 oz. Roadrunner heads with Black/Chart. jigs better. We use 11 foot jig poles with about 9 feet of line out. Instead of jigging one spot we simply pitch the jig up to the brushline and let it fall back to us keeping it just off the bottom.
The yellow Stren Hi-Vis line ( 10 lb. test ) is a big help as a lot of bites are seen as the line stops and move sideways.
