I would not buy a Fishfinder now unless it has a GPS built in.

Does anyone have any opinions on the humminbird 580 ($329 e-bay) i'm thinking of getting one. Or what type on fish finder would you get for this money.

I'm interested in the same unit as well, seems like a great deal for what you get and it compatable with Navianics premium Hotmaps as well!
I agree with Marine Doctor. If you are fishing new water or a big lake GPS REALLY helps to keep you out of trouble. It also makes getting back to a specific spot a snap.
A GPS is a very important tool, but I wouldn't want a combination F/F GPS. If the unit craps out on you and you have to send it back, you'll be fishing blind. With 2 separate units, if one goes bad, you can either find your hot spots by use of the GPS, or with your F/F.
Got my 580 last week and its a darn nice unit for 329$ Awesome resolution (640 vertical) and easy to use GPS built it.
better think twice on Hummingbird!!! read some earlier posts!! I for one have had NO response by phone or email from Hummingbird!!! And I just bought two in the last 10 montghs!!! Never again... when these go..going to someone else,, maybe back to Bottomline or Lowrance... no support from hummingbird!!! Just my 2cents!!!!
I have owned humming bird depth finders for 35 years .
they have always been great units and if you do have to send one in for repair they have the best turn around time on them.
