    Default Rope fid question??????????????

Does anyone know of a chain store that carries rope fids? The local Ace Hardware went out of business and I can't find any fids local.

Thanks. I am trying to find some at a local store. Ace Hardware use to carry the plastic ones for about a buck a piece. I hate to pay the shipping fee on something that doesn't weigh 4 ounces.

OK I admit it, I'm ignorant, what the deuce is a "fid"? Been around the water all my life but never heard the term.

    Thumbs up

Cane Pole what size rope are you try'n to splice. Being an ol'towboater I rarely use a fid on anything smaller than 2" Poly., I just twist the line to open it a little. If you are working with small line say 1/4" to 1" those plastic tent steaks that you can get at Wal-Mart would work. :D
