ok guys , i have a lowe roughneck . in the hotter days of summer the front and rear decks get hot . looking for ways to help cool down these areas . i seen a boat and the gas station the other day and it had some type of coating that looked like bed liner . would like something like that over carpet .

I will be looking into this as well. Have a roughneck in Mossy oak and it gets hot in the sun. Let us know what you do and how it works

You mean in lieu of the carpeting I take it? Not sure a Rhino type deck coating would work over carpeting. I can attest that the cargo type bed liner coatings do work and will make clean up a breeze when compared to any carpeting. And you can get it in various colors & shades.

All 3 of my Excel Bay Pros have had the spray in liner floor. I love it and don’t ever plan on having carpet in a boat again. All of mine have been reasonably light color—bone white, kaki, and silver. I will say as the colors got darker, they got hotter. I fish all summer and have no idea how the guys with camo floors keep soles on their shoes.

No spray in liner is going to reduce the heat you mention. I’m in same situation as you. My interior liner is Zolatone.....put your hand on the front deck or compartment top on a hot summer day you’re going to get a good burn. I’ve been in other boats with the Rhino....LineX liners and they are just as hot to the touch. I’ve decided to go with the SeaDek. I will only be putting it on front deck and the tops of storage compartments, rod locker. I would like to install it on the floor and side walls but that’s more money than I want to spend.

Over the years have tried several different coverings for the floors. Carpet has been a pain to clean and was not durable at all. Tried Rhino lining and it was not bad to clean. The only knock on it was that when it got wet it was pretty slick and had a couple of folks slip and fall. The best solution that we found was Linex. Been running War Eagle boats for over 15 years and have used the grey color in Linex and have not had any problems. One tip to clean the Linex. Home Depot sells a product named Greased Lightning. Wet down the surface, dump it around, just use a soft brush to spread it over all of the surface, allow it to stand 5 to 10 minutes and power wash off. When complete it will look like brand new. This cleaner works on coolers, patio furniture, etc. It’s really good to spray around in to back area of the boat to clean out the battery storage area as well. Hope this helps.
