    Default Cleaning your catch

For those of you who have never cleaned a fish here is one way of doing it.

    Nice step-by-step! Good photography too.

Took me a couple tries to teach my son last weekend - probably could have done it quicker with pictures.

My dad took me out and had me catch about 40 pearch and practice and did this 3 or 4 times before he let me do it on any other fish.

That's the way I like doing it. It sure beats scaling them.

That is easier than the way I do it, but, I like to scale them first. rinse the loose scales off, then cut the filet off, but cut around the rib cage, avoiding cutting into the entrails. Then I remove the skin the same way. This takes longer, but, is a whole lot less messy. This also doesn't dull my knife as fast.

Yes, I just slide the blade between the ribs and meat and slice it off.

You do it the same way with the electric knife. These pics were taken to show the steps.
