Default A really different way to catch crappie

Today I wanted a break and went down to my dock and took a Zoom finesse worm rigged wacky style on one of my spinning rods and guess what? I caught my first even crappie on a wacky worm, LOL! I couldn't believe it. I had given up on the cast and about the same time I started to reel it in he slammed it. Had to pull him out of the bushes and grass and had no clue it was a crappie until I got him close and saw him for the first time.

It is probably about 3' deep where he hit.

my biggest bass I ever caught (8.5 bucketmouth) came from a wacky style rigged worm. Crappie though? You gotta be kidding me...

I've caught big crappie on a Texas rigged worm before. I can believe that when they want something there gonna hit it. How big was it?

I guess there's a first time for everything. I caught one once on a jerk bait that was almost as long as the crappie.

I ended up letting him go so I didn't actually measure him, but I would say he was over 15" and nice and thick. He didn't look to be full of eggs so may have been a large male.

BTW the worm was a Red Bug color and I still can't believe he took and so aggressively.

Are those finesse worms similar to Powerbait or Exude trout worms (skinny 4")?

Just curious, cause I have some of those and am always looking to try new ways to catch crappie.
