    Default Trolling

New to crappie fishing. If trolling with 6 lb test and a 1/16 jig head how much line do you need to let out to be at 6 to 8 ft. deep. Thanks

Ashley ... first off I've moved your post to a more appropriate forum.

Secondly, to answer your question we'd need to know how fast you're going (assuming the 1/16oz jig is the only weight on the line).

I Push jigs @ 1mph with 1oz weights ahead of my jig and get 6-8ft deep with 10-14ft of line out. But my lines are running at approx. a 45deg angle. Without the 1oz weights, or even with lesser weights, the amount of line out would be considerably more.

Maybe some members that do a lot of Longline Trolling will have a chart or personal experience answer to your question.
