    Our annual Mother’s Day trip. Got a nice variety of fish long line drifting road runners tipped with minnows and night crawlers in heavy north winds. It was our first trip of the year. And the wife got the most and the biggest as usual Got a few long line drifting. Also got to try the grill out on the new boat.

    I'd say the one next to (above) the filet knife is a Sauger (or possibly a Saugeye), and the one above it is a Walleye.

    I would say those 2 fish are walleyes , because of the white blotches on the tails !!!

    Nice going brother. What ever they are... you have a fine mess for the grease. I must say... that little gas cooker and cup holder mounted on the rail is as up town and convenient as it gets.
    I know anything cooked on the water... while fishing... whether it be a lake or a river tastes as good as fillet mignon after a long morning of goin' after 'em.
    YOU GOT IT GOIN' ON... NO DOUBT!!! You can cook and sip on your favorite beverage without taking your eyes off of you rods. Thanks for sharing.

    White tail tips are present on Saugeye, seeing as how the female Walleye passes that trait on .... and Walleye don't have the black blotches all down their sides, like Sauger & Saugeye do.

    Here's a pic of me holding a Saugeye, and you can see the white on the tail :

    I was only going by this ;
    Do you know the difference between a walleye and sauger?
    Here’s how:

    1. The dorsal fin (spiny fin on top of the fish) on a sauger has black spots. A walleye does not, and the pieces of skin in between the last 2 spines are solid black .

    2. The tail of a walleye is white on the lower fin. A sauger does not have that.

    3. Saugers are typically smaller than walleye. A 16 inch sauger is considered big.

    4. Lastly, a mature sauger is “blotchy” with shades of black. Walleyes are more consistent and “gold”, not “blotchy”.

    but I do see what you mean by the blotchy shades of black !!!!
