Default Megabass Okashira Screwhead (Propeller) Jig for Big Slabs!

Here is a very interesting trip and lure to catch crappies! I was out doing some prespawn bass fishing, which is great here as it is same time when the Crappie starts to feed up as well.

My choice of lure was a 1/16 oz Megabass Okashira Screwhead Jig, which is a Light jig on a 3/0 hook and a Propeller on it. That's right, you didn't read wrong, it's a 3/0 size hook! I normally use size #4 or #6 for crappie fishing, but this is so much bigger! For the trailer, I have opted for a 3" Easy Shiner from Keitech and it was just slaying crappies all day. I caught over 60 fish that session, but Only kept the bigger ones on video for you guys to see. I put in a few small ones just to show that even the smaller fish can take in this bait.

So at the end of the day, does big lure bring in big fish? Or shall I say small bass lure bring in Big crappies?

Northland makes the whistler jig, which has a smaller hook size.

Very nice vid! Hard to believe that 3/0 was as successful as it was. Crappie do have big mouths!

Thx man! yeah it was surprising. I was seriously going for prespawn bass that day, but when the slabs bite, screw bass!! Crappie fishing for life!

Yeah they do but they are of bad quality, lures doesn't stay on and i couldn't find a 1/16 oz jig at the stores or online. their website stated they have it but no one carries it. As shown in the video, the small crappies hit this lure no problem w/ 3/0 hooks
