KY Lake Cold Weather Crappie Pics..

4/9 Temps were 29 at take-off, but fishing picked up as the day went on casting slider jigs in Blood River:

4/14 It rained all day, you could see your breath, and we about froze to death.....but we still ended up w/ some nice crappie out of Blood River on slider jigs again:

Be nice if I could go for a day w/out the long johns, but at least a few are still biting and I had a blast fishing w/ my dad.

The "spinner" jig could be a Whirly Bee or a Charlie Bee. Charlie Bee's are similar in design to Roadrunner/ponyhead jigs --- Whirly Bee's have the flat jighead/twin tail grub body/spinner attached to hook bend.

Crappiepappy provided the link on the sliders, but I usually use a weedless head much like the ones crappiepappy uses....maybe he can post a pic of one. I don't really like the slider jigheads and just rig a regular jighead w/ a slider jig just like you would a Texas rigged worm when bass fishing and it comes right through the cover.

The main advantage of the slider jig for me is that you can fish this jig MUCH slower than a curly tail when crawling it through the cover and the little paddletail goes crazy no matter how slow you reel it back. If the crappie are feeding they will eat it!
