I use plain round head jigs either 1/16 or 1/32 ounce. I like the ones with the barbed collar to help keep the body on the jig. Black and chartruce are my favorite but blue and white, red and white and red and chartruce are right up there also.
Ok, I got a pretty good selection of colors of slab busters but would like some help on how to rig. Do I use regular lead heads or are painted better? Or do I use tapered jig head and slide it into the plastic? From what I read most people like the black with chartures. Any other faves? Also, has anyone used them at Reelfoot? Headed down Thurs to Sunday this week. Thanks and look forward to meeting Bails.

Been catchin-em on Fluorecent Yellow:D
Used them at reelfoot when I was down there a few weeks ago. Caught most of our fish on the new rootbeer color.
I personally like a shad/minnow head, using an assortment of white, black, flor yellow or flor orange. Combinations of almost anything with chartreuse, plain chatreuse or blue/white or red/white seem to get the job done at LOZ.
You can buy or make the lead heads, then try several different colors. Here's a sample head:
Good Luck!

Ok---Where do you buy these hooks or get a mold to make them?
I picked some up at wally world this morning. I'm pumped for thursday to catch some fish.
I wouldn't recommend using the tear drop jig to insert from the back as the solid body jigs aren't made for that. They tend to rip out.
Another advantage with the Slab Buster Solid Body is you can put it on a bare hook as well with a split shot in front of it. This allows it to fall more irradically than if the lead is on the hook.
Don't be afraid to tip with minnows. Use big minnow on reelfoot.
Good Luck!
