Default Had Good and Bad Luck Today!

I took off today for my birthday and fished with a friend. The weather was too bad last week so I changed my off day to today. We kept 15 or so and had several pretty nice ones.
Most fish came off 8 foot brushpiles close to the main river channel. We were more just enjoying both being off from work and enjoying such a perfect day than fishing real hard. We both started working at the same place on the same day 31 years ago!

Got to the house and noticed that I had lower unit gear oil and water seeping out of a weep hole at the top of my lower unit. I drained the lower unit..pure water at first followed by gear oil. Pulled the prop... no fishing line in the seal. Guess it'll have to be rebuilt. I'll probably be wade fishing for a while.

After your wreck a couple of weeks ago and now this, you are proving that skill, not luck, enables you to catch fish.
You is the unluckiest fisherman that can catch fish I have ever seen.

Sounds like just a seal, if you are lucky the gears and shaft may not be damaged. Good luck. Nice slab too.

Glad for the good luck, sorry about the bad luck.
I would look for some metal grinding by draining the
water/oil in a clean container. If metal flakes or
grinding were found I would flush the unit with some light
oil before I filled it with the gear. Good luck
