    Smile Planer Boards Question

It is too early for me to troll but I am thinking about investing in some planer boards to use while trolling. I was going to see if any of you guys knew which type to invest in and which ones to stay away from. I think planer boards may improve my trolling crankbaits for crappie this summer and I may try my luck with them.

check out off-shore in line planner boards. We use them up here all the time,as they get your baits off to the side of the boat. We had them at K.L. a few weeks ago,but didn't need them as we were virtical jigging and casting 1/8 0z. jigs. We had planned to use them if the wind came up but the lake was like a mill pound. They work well in calm water to nice little chop.

    Hi Ed,

I was wanting to come visit you when you were down, but had sickness/death in family as you know. Maybe next year.

I am not planing on using them right away but I think they may help my trolling in July when the water is dead a lot of the time.
I saw some in my BassPro catalog, I just want to buy a good set.

I'm not partial (much ) between BP and Cabela's -
but Cabela's has a package deal where you get a pair (left/right)
of boards and two tattle-flag kits at a few bucks savings...
You might ask BP to match the deal - if you can get them to understand
what the flag kit is  some things are still handled better by
the "yanks" :D If anybody from BPS is whizzed off by this, send me a
walleye catalog with ALL the stuff in it, and I will revise my opinion
Nope, having Keith and Gary on the pro staff is not enough by itself

Aw, don't feel like the lone ranger if you haven't seen them, not common
(yet) down South. But anyway, most often used trolling to carry
additional lines out to one or both sides of the boat - there are several
different ways to rig them, but the way I do it, you let out your line, clip
on the board, then let out additional line. The forward motion of the boat
will carry it out (and back) on roughly a 45 degree angle. When I hook up,
I reel in till I can get my hands on the board, unclip it and lay it down,
then reel fish in. If boat traffic isn't an issue, sometimes I run one 100 feet
off each side, then another two 50 feet or so inside those. They have
floatation and lead in them that makes them float at just the right angle
to "ski" away from the boat when you pull them. Most are dedicated either
    right or left side. Jeff
