    Default Weird bite today

Got to my first spot of the morning and poured a cup of coffee to cool as I set out my spider rig rods. Everything was going smoothly until disaster struck, I knocked my coffee cup into the minnow bucket. I fished the cup out of the bucket and looked to see how much coffee was left and to decide if fish flavored brew was something I would be willing to try. I tossed what the minnows didn't get into the lake and cleaned out the cup as best as I could then poured another cupful to enjoy on this fine peaceful morning.
For hours I would watch my rod tips go crazy but when I would pick up the rods no fish. I was thinking what a weird bite. Several hours later I noticed the bites were more aggressive and the hook ups were plentiful as I caught somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-40 fish the rest of the day. Then it came to me crystal clear, I knew what the problem of the morning had been.

The crappie really wanted to eat but my souped up caffeine crazed super hyper minnows had been outrunning the crappie! It just took several hours for the buzz to wear off.

Souped up, caffeine crazed, super hyper minnows...man I don't want none of them f they can out run my targeted fish...nice to have the hyper action to attract them though.

I once heard from a guy that dunked a single minnow in a cup of whiskey and used that single minnow all day long. At the end of the day he had a limit of 2 plus pound crappie. I asked how was that possible to do with a single drunk minnow. He told me after letting the minnow swim around the whiskey for a few minutes he took him out and lightly hooked him just behind the dorsal fin. He would then toss him overboard and hit free spool to let the little guy swim around all he wanted. When the line would stop he would real in a crappie every time and every time that minnow would have the crappie by the throat!
