    Default My own Jigs

Hey Ya'll, I've been looking at the great jigs some of you guy's at tying and I
am going to try to tie my own.
A while back I ordered some of Skip's jigs [ about 30 ] and man Skip's jigs are
great, I'm still using them, they out last plastic tubes by far.
You know I'm so country that I've never tried any hand tied fancy jigs before in my life, but Skip opened this ole country boys eye's.
I'm not saying I'll never use minnows again, but I did put my old minnow bucket up, for now anyway. Now, can someone tell me where I can get jig heads with a collar but no spike, they are hard to find. Maybe I need the jig with no collar at all.

P.S. Thanks Skip, now I can see.

    Default jigs

congrats on the new hobby. Ive only used normal mass produced jigs and tried some lindy quiver jigs a long time back and the action of the tail was the best ive ever seen. Its a different material you may want to look into it just for something different for doing yourself.

The first place I ever crappie fished was with a chart quiver jig and I would just walk around the shore and drop the jig just to where i could barely see it and they would gobble it up. I think the first fish I caught was by accident, daydreaming watching it wave and move:D .

The spike is easy to remove by twisting it off with a pair of pliers.

It is a hobby and it is therapy to many to relieve stress from our daily jobs. I buy most of my supplies from Jann's Netcraft or believe it or not from your local hobby shop.

I use a trusted BB air rifle to harvest my own squirrel tails. The marabou and kip tails I order.

I use a pair of nail clippers to remove the barb.

It seems like the going price for the 1/8 size around $15.00 per 100, thats
with the shipping charge. Is that about right.
If they are cheaper somewhere else please tell me.

Gary theres an old man and his daughter at the flee market at crump. That has then for I think $8 per hundred. I will let you know when I see him back over there.
I plan on getting a phone number this time also.
He uses the think wire hooks. If you hang one it will allow you to bend them. And also has the heaver hooks also.

    Old ship.
I've been looking at your work, it's great.
Do you mind telling us how long you've been tying?
Better yet, tell us how long it took you to be able to tie like you do.

As you know, I've been thinking about starting myself.
    Mike
