My posts are 13". Just right for me, but too tall for my wife. I'm not tall, about 5'10"

There are two types of bases with brass bushings. I have both. One is good, the other is junk. The good ones have a thick rim around the top. The rim or lip is about 3/8" thick. The cheap ones have a 1/8 wall straight bushing. The bushing on one of mine with the 1/8 wall is broken after being in the boat one year. I don't have any with the UHMW PE bushings. I don't know how long those would last but it would be several years I would think. If it's a keeper boat, go with the plates with the good brass bushings. If it's a temporary (3-5 year boat) go with the UHMW bushings. I wouldn't use the bases with the thin lipped bushing for any reason.
