Attachment 10322 From Toledo Bend Texas!

I would not have thought it would still be having this much impact, but I too am still waiting on the crappie. was catching them in 2' of water a month ago and also 6'-11' trolling jigs, but it has not been good lately!

Only catching a few small ones when I go the last few days.

    Dennis,

We will have another spawn in Ky Lake in two weeks if:

    1. I get some vacation the last week in April.
    2. All the Yanks go home so I can fish some of my stuff.

    This is science.

You guys from the south have all the luck.

This next week we should have temp in the 50's during the day. At night there supposed to be in the 30"s.
Now with that being said. How long before the spawn here. Ice has been off the lakes about three weeks but the temp has been below (well below) an average of 35.

I'm trying to learn this crappy stuff.
I haven't been down to check any water temps because I know there below 50.
    What do ya think?

The crappie should be staging out in 10' or so if the water temp is in the low to mid 50's, Once the water gets to around 60 they should start moving in. You will find that in the early part of the days you catch mainly males, once the water warms up to the mid 60's later in the evenings the females should move in. The main feeder creeks normally warm up first. We had them going good here on Ray Roberts in Tx. at the end of the week.

    Welcome to the board.

Crappie were being nailed uo about a week or so ago, fishing only about 3' down... but since this cold weather set in here... only a few small ones have been biting. Hopefully a warming trend comes into the picture soon.
Getting tired of catching nothing... not like a usual day for me here lately.

Have had to work and go to meetings for the past couple of weeks, but doesn't look like I missed anything. Be glad when it warms back up here too.
