Buck knives makes a small dehooker.
This one has been in my boat for years with a small shaft but still hard to use on blue gills and shell crackers that are stuck deep.

I have been searching for the perfect Degorger and line cutter. I have a multi-tool that I don't like because it is heavy and inconvenient. The multi-tool is a necessity in any tackle box but what I want is something to hang around my neck. I ordered a pair of aluminum fishing pliers but what I really want is a small combination clippers and degorger. I may end up making my own. I don't really see the need for the clippers being part of the degorger because retying and clipping is not something you need ready access to. I understand that salt water fishing require a ready tool to clip heavy line or wire but I have never left a hook in a fresh water fish. The combination tool is just a way of reducing clutter.
I was going to start a thread like this one to see what people think but decided I would wait until I got the fishing pliers. Having never used a degorger before I don't have much to go on other than imagination. The way I remove deep hooks is to put a finger in the curve of the hook and push it deeper then pull it out. With the size hooks I use your fingernail will usually cover the point. What I'm hoping is the degorger will make the process faster with less stress to the fish.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
now I know what you was talking about !!! here is one a Friend made for me out of a aluminum rod hammered the end flat and cut a grove in it !!! works great and lite as a feather , I have also used a pocket screw driver , you know ones you get at a auto store or a vendor ; get a dremel tool with a metal cutting wheel a cut the grove in the blade !!! could not find mine to show in the picture but this what my Friend made !!! hope this helps !!!
That looks good and is easy to make.
Dritz Home Tack Remover
There are several variations of this. This one is a little smaller, floats and can be drilled easily for a lanyard.

I use an old ball point pen, pull out the ink cartridge insert an arrow knock from the hunting section at wally world. Works perfect for removing hooks but will not cut line.
I think putting the arrow nock on toe nail clippers may be just the ticket. I would go with the tack remover in the kayak.
Keep those good ideas rolling.
