Rapala heavy duty knife with 9" blade, I'm at about 150 fish on these blades and they seem to be losing their edge? replacements are $11.

They will lose their edge. For a lot of years I cleaned a lot of crappie......it is now rare for me to keep any. Of course I’m sure it depends on which electric you use but they will all lose their edge over a lot of use.

I know they are serrated but they can be sharpened the same way you sharpen a kitchen knife. Don't worry about valleys, just sharpen the lands. Don't over do it.

I have the Work Sharp Knife Sharper and keep mine like brand new all the time.

I have cleaned thousands on a set of rapala blades. The trigger mechanism broke just last week but the blades were still getting it done. Never sharpened them the first time

I use a <$10 Black and Decker kitchen knife. Still on the same one I've had for 15 years. I've sharpened the blades once. Like posted above, just sharpen like a regular knife.

The blades that came with the Rapala heavy duty had a learning curve to learn . I cut clean through a few fish in the beginning . Just like a fine edge on a pocket knife it dulls quicker than say a 20 degree job . Most knife blades will last longer "if" you let the knife work and resist pushing the blade through the fish . With that knife you are tempted to push the knife since you get spoiled at the beginning . I really want to see if the new "Bubba" blade electric is better . Would be an awesome knife . JMO
