Time for a new Trolling Motor?

...been using my Minn-Kota 24# for many years...yesterday noticed the only speeds I have left are Fast and Medium, and only if I hold the tiller just right...anybody know if this problem can be fixed, or do I have to make another trip to WallyWorld?

with 24# of thrust you probaly only need fast and med:D . One of the guys posted a schematic for a trolling motor controller a while back. If I hold the handle just right, sounds like the pot may be dirty or going bad. you can try to get the back of the pot and spray som contact cleaner(kramalon r5) and work it for a few mins and then let dry and test. You may need a new pot or worse.
go tell the wife you need "new pot" for fishing.:p
