    Hey there -

I can't say without absolute certainty, I have not been to Oconee in a good while.

What type of fishing you planning on doing? Slow trolling with jigs or drifting/still fishing with minnows, etc?

If you are gonna tight-line with some minnows I would put in at Sugar Creek Public Access and go under the bridge, head up about a mile or so and you will see a bunch of standing timber on your left side.....I would either anchor down there on some trees and drop minnows over the side (first choice)....I would imagine that would hold some good crappie, we night fish there sometimes and do very well......

Second choice for tight lining would be to tie off to the bridge itself, I always see people doing pretty well in any one of the three underpasses.....

Good luck, be sure to let us know how you do....

I would like to troll some jigs, but I will be prepared to do it all. Thanks for the info.

Got back from Oconee about 1pm, put in at JR's at Lick Creek. Tightlined jiffy jigs tipped with minnows at the mouth of the creek, no bites fished there 2 hrs. Went to Sugar creek fish some timber, no bites fished there for 2hrs. Front moved in started to rain so I headed back to Grovetown. To some it all up 4hrs not one bite, but it was better than going to work.

Did you go under the bridge out of the boat launch or to the left toward the back of the creek?

I would imagine that the back of Lick Creek area might be a little too shallow for this time of year trolling.

I went under the bridge and fished the mouth of Lick Creek, I didn't fish to the left of the ramp although i'm sure they will be there during the spawn. The warmest water I could find today was 43.5. Much colder than the hill.

I think I was the only boat on the entire lake. That was the first time that I have ever been to oconee and couldn't find any other crappie fisherman to talk to. That took allot of my confidence away.

The water was stained, what I would call perfect crappie water. Yeah you are right, I plan on having lots of time off between now and the middle of march.
