    Default REDESIGNED! Sam Heaton’s 7-Foot Super-Sensitive SHSS72N

Does anyone have one of the new REDESIGNED Sam Heaton 7' rod? I'm curious about it. Read somewhere these rods were just for jigging only. I think that is for the longer jig poles though. Any comments/reviews welcomed. Thanks

I've got 2 of the old style (full cork handle) models. The only difference I can see is the split rear cork part of the handle. Not sure that's a value added feature or not? But I can vouch for the effectiveness, sensitivity and back bone of the SHSS blank. Casts 2# test braid with fluoro leader amazingly well with 1/32 - 1/16 oz. ball heads.

They're actually a few years old. Split handle and spinning guides.

The SHSS72n is a spinning rod with the same sensitivity and feel of the jig pole series. Improvements include Dyna-Flo guides for smooth line retrieval, and a cork knob handle for outstanding balance and feel. Historically one of the most popular rods on the water, the SHSS72n is still supple, strong and sensitive.

They tell me that it is a all purpose spinning rod with the feel of a jig pole.

It's rated 4-10 lb --- ultra lites are typically 2-6 lb. Excellent rod - and purdy!

I think I'm gonna get one. Never used a true jig pole so can't compare. I have a couple UL rods though. Thanks for help!

Yeah, I'd put it in the med/lite power category, myself. I have one of the (original) Sam Heaton Signature Series 7' rods, which I believe is the same IM6 blank but just a different color (mine is gun metal blue). It pretty much has a parabolic bend (bends half the length of the rod), which I'm not all that fond of, but it's a nice rod that serves me well when I use it. Currently have mine paired with a Shimano Spirex 1000RE reel, which is a little bit heavy for this rod (balance point is 2" in front of the reel seat = butt heavy) but overall the outfit is light enough to cast with all day & not wear you out.

The 7’ one I have is maroon and super whippy... not my cup of tea so it sits on the shelf...
