Many years ago a fisherman told me that his favorite crappie lure was called a Fat Gitzit. Never seen or heard of it other than from him. Anyone familiar with it?

One trick I remember folks talking of was a small piece of sponge soaked in attractant on the hook shank and inside the tube. Cutting edge for me at the time.

I think some folks inject them with crappie nibble paste in the cavity
that probably helps it get bit to ….
one thing for certain a good tube jig will get it done in lots of spots

In 1964 when Bobby and Garry Garland worked together to design a new plastic lure called the Gitzit.Bobby's company was Bass N Man,Garry was Canyon Plastics,They are the fathers of tube jigs.Gitzit is just a large tube jig.
Funny how history works out that the father of tubes for bass fishing now has a crappie line of baits named after him,

i have used crushed alkaseltzer and packing corns in the back of the tubes and caught fish.
They make great drop shot baits when nose hooked!
