Just stickin' to Crappie USA for now. I hafta learn some of the other lakes like LOZ, Truman, etc.... before I enter the other tourneys. Don't feel like squirtin' away $200.00 to enter tournaments I have no chance at the top ten. My skills and repertroire need more refinement and fine tuning to compete with the true professionals.

Every tournament I learn another skill. This last one was using the Capps and Coleman Rig for slow trolling over flats. We picked up more fish at 1.0mph than we did at 0.6. My previous thought was slower was better, but it appears we were giving them too much time to look at it at 0.6. 1.0 brought more aggressive reaction strikes. Plus we covered more water.

    Another lesson in the bag.

I use an inexpensive Garmin Etrek GPS. My old one didn't read less than 1 mph. The newer ones do as they are more accurate. My old one was accurate to 20 ft. This one is good for seven.

There was a tolerance of +/- 0.4 mph when the wind would get rascally, but what I listed was what I was trying to hold for speed.

Sometimes going with the wind I would have to turn the trolling motor towards us to slow us down to the speed we were targeting. Speed is much easier to control with a lot less wind.
