Default Looking for rod and reel for casting / jigging

Looking for a new rod / reel for Crappie - I have bought Pflueger President reels and they are in my budget for around the $60 mark

any suggestions on a Rod length, brand and action

this would be used for casting and possibly dock shooting

thanks for any info and help

Look at the B n' M lineup. Their 7' Sam Heaton Super Sensitive is one of the best casting & jig rods I have ever owned. I also have the 9' model, but that takes a little more getting use to.

Another BnM rod the SharpShooter 6 works good for me. It’s designed for dock shooting but it also cast very well. I have mine paired up with the Pflueger President as well. One of my favorite combos! Most of the dock shooters I think are stiffer and not to be compared to a UL rod which for general casting/fishing I prefer.

That 7' Sam's super sensitive Crestliner mentioned is 1 of my favorite rods, the 9' is excellent also - wish they made an 8'.

    The 7' Sam's SS is rated 4 - 10 lb --- still a very light rod.

I fish with several people that have both of those particular rods in assorted lengths. One or both will be my next purchase. But I still ain't giving up my DC double touches. The eyes are just a little small for distance.

you may want to look at the speed shooter 7'. it is very versatile I use it to shoot docks, work jigs, cast, vertical fishing.

Bass pro makes the micro lie rod and i have a few, one i use a lot for casting and jigging is the 8' med. lite action and it works great, and the rod price is not bad. I think the last one i bought several years ago was $39
