I kind of had a feeling that this would happen. Remember who Ranger boats was purchased by. In some regards, many thought that it was to make the Nitro lineup better in their Fiberglass arena but also hoped that it would make their Tracker lineup better in the Deep V market. Unfortunately, it looks like the reverse might have happened.

In my opinion (when comparing them side by side) the Ranger deep V lineup is not much different than the tracker lineup. So, one might think that they are using Tracker engineering and materials on their Ranger line. Although Tracker boats are very popular in the South when it comes to specific models (and are good boats) in the North, when it comes to deep V boats, tracker is considered as "entry level". Unfortunately, Ranger is NOT. So, the correlation there might be the result of engineering in the wrong direction. Their fit and finish has gone downhill and, like with their brother boats, now seems to fall somewhere near the bottom.

If you are looking for a Deep V walk through boat (alluminum) I suggest taking a look at Alumacraft, Lund, or Crestliner. There are several owners of these boats in the Michigan forum (myself included) that can speak about them individually. As for my opinion, I would steer clear of the Ranger Aluminum lineup of deep V boats just as I would steer clear of the Tracker lineup of the same boats. If you read the review that Cray posted, this is a very similar issue with all of the boats I speak of.

These boats (unlike some of their other models) are used in much different waters. Lake Erie, lake Huron, lake Michigan, ect... We are running heavy/large motors on them. I just don't think the materials they utilize to make up the transom are heavy duty enough to accept the kind of punishment that our great lakes boats endure.

Thank you. We read this one last night. Isn't that a different design, an older boat, than the current model, so we thought this might not pertain.

This is just my opinion but I have to agree with Wicklundrich. Can't see that their build quality would improve since the buyout. For the money I'd sure compare it to the alumacraft or Crestliner if it was me.
