For the same price, Helix 12 SI G2N now or wait for Helix 10 SI G3N? Don’t think I can pay the price of a Helix 12 G3N.

OK ... but what does a Gen3 system offer over a Gen2 system that would gain you anything with the smaller screen size ?? And would that generation difference be of great benefit to your style of fishing ??

CP has brought up some great questions, that I don’t know the answer to.
However bigger is always better in my book.
I think the g3 TD may reach further if it’s mega, however you can use 455 for a longer reach if needed.
    I’d go with H 12

I would go with the larger screen.
You always hear go with the largest screen you can afford.
My smaller screen has always been the biggest dissatisfaction of all.

I also would go with the 12 over the new 10 unless you plan to fish some really deep water, 40' + deep.
New Mega+ units looks really great in deep water and side image at 200'. At 200 ft most objects I fish would be really small on a 10" screen.
    Just my 2 cents worth.

Bigger is better when it comes to sonar.

That was kinda my point .... I mean, who actually uses SI out 200' to either side, and even on a 12" screen wouldn't the objects still be correspondingly small at that range ??
But, also take into consideration that a DF screen is measured diagonally, so the 12" screen isn't actually 2" "wider" than the 10" screen (it's more like 1.2" wider).

But again .... which features are going to best serve you & your way of fishing ?? If the price is the same, you just have to choose between the features & not necessarily the screen size. But that's just my opinion.

I was afraid to let the good price on the 12 get by me so I got it this afternoon. Thinking about what each of you said, it just didn’t make sense to pay the same money for a smaller screen not knowing if the G3 would be an improvement. The Mega Gen 2 units are such an improvement over what I had that I don’t think I could go wrong. Thanks for all the input.
