Creek's Transport Rack

Received my Creek's Transport Rack this week. Looks like they will do the job just fine. Was wondering how those who have these racks secure their lines to the rod when traveling. Any help is appreciated. Pop

I assume you are asking about spider rigging poles... I grab the line about half way up the pole and hold on to it and twist the rod 4-5 times, this will have the bottom wound in the opposite direction as he top portion of the rod, then hook to an eye on the pole.

I'd do the same as Walker does, with one exception .... I don't put hooks in the "eyes" of my line guides (on any rod). I try and put the hook on the crossbar of the reel (baitcast/linecounter) or where the reel's foot inserts into the reel foot seat (spinning). If I cannot do this, and absolutely have to put a hook in a line guide, I put it in the guide's foot (brace). The reason is so that the barb on the hook does not (and cannot) scratch the inside of the guide. That may be caution overkill, but I still do it that way.

NOTE: I do not have a rod carrier/transport rack. All of my rods are transported in a rod sleeve & stacked inside my rod box. And yes, that includes my long rods ... which are broken down & in rods sleeves for transport.

Walker I think was talking about hooking the line over one of the center guides after turning the rod to wrap the line around it. That's how I do mine....all my rods have a thing to hook the hook on. On two hook rigs I put a rubber band on the upper hook and loop the rubber band over a eye on the rod.

Upon re-reading, you are correct, "G"

But, not putting hooks into the line guides is still a "tip" worthy of note, IMHO.
Not all my rods have a hook retainer, and even those that do have one .... I'm not using them because my rods are in "sleeves" (nylon material or plastic weave) and the hooks would eventually get stuck into the sleeve which would require time & effort to extract.

Your use of a rubber band for "double hook rigs" is an excellent idea !!

Yes Walker, 14 foot rods. Thanks for the replies. I am concerned about any weights flopping around and possibly damaging a rod. Going to reread your replies again and maybe I'll understand better. Thanks again, Pop
