Tranquility
Amen
Aint nothing like it. Smooth water...no boats....no wind. That's exactly why I nightstalk! :p
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
That's the exact "float" that I use most often, and the one I find and retrieve from the bank or tree limbs, too :pOriginally Posted by BaBo
The difference is ... I remove the "stem" and make it into a "slip float"
A #1 lite wire Aberdeen hook with a lively minner hooked thru the eye socket ... a #4 Water Gremlin removable lead sinker about 6" above that ...
the "float" .... a plastic bead, big enough to stop the bobber stopper from sliding thru the hole ... then a "bobber stopper" (of some form or another) up the line, at the prescribed depth --- and I'm kicked back and enjoying the "tranquility" and the scenery and any active local wildlife. (meanwhile, some Bluegill has either managed to kill my minnow, or yanked it off the hook ... or, hopefully, a Crappie has found it and is making off with it to parts unknown :D ) Yes sir ..... Crappie fishing at its simplest level, and most relaxing format. And ... even though I don't fish this way all that often ... preferring the more "active" method of casting jigs ... I still love to watch a float bounce once, then head for the depths, so I still use this method on occasion - especially when I'm in that "tranquil of moods"

We call it Low Impact Fishing. Here's the setting:
a full-day guide trip
right after a lunch break
on a warm day
a very soft breeze is blowing
the boat is slowly rocking
your looking at the cork
but you're really not
you've slipped in the edge of no man's land
your eyes are half shut
then the dang guide yells
FISH ON
It's really funny to see folks jump up and grab the wrong rod, LOL.
It's all very de-stressing isn't it?
