Default Which Minnkota should I get??

Debating on upgrading my trolling motor in hopes of gaining more boat control. Currently running a Minnkota Edge 45. It’s ok for general use I guess but I have my dislikes. I see a bunch of Minnkotas available online but not sure what model would suit me best. I want spot lock and remote/foot pedal control. 12V 45” shaft on a 1548 Xpress. I know some models get stupid expensive but if I can figure out the model I need I can keep an eye out for a deal.

You will need a Terrova for spot lock. Sounds like a 55lb might do you. If you go higher which I would prefer it will have to be 24 volt.

Is it only the Terrova and Ultrex that have spot lock? What’s the diff of that and iPilot? In my boat a 24v is hard to do.

You can do power drive but it has to have ipilot to have spotlock. That's what gives it the GPS reading to hold still. The Terrova will have a better spot lock because it has a two GPS readings.

If your gonna troll you really need a longer shaft to keep the prop deep enough in the wind.

I have to admit that I haven't kept up with all the changes over the past few years so ignore what I said. Give our sponsors a call and tell them what you want. They are on top of all the latest features and will give you the best price available. They are great people and will go out of their way to help you.

Thanks guys! Financially I will likely have to get a used one. So powerdrive and terrova will need to be what I look for? Based on what G said, do I need to consider going up to the 55” shaft?

Terrova...with Ipilot... with foot pedal and remote...12 volt 55lb. thrust....55 inch shaft. If you find a deal on one with a longer shaft you can always cut the shaft down.
